New Baby Gift

Don't you love it when your neighbor has a new baby!? I was excited to get a little basket of fun together for her-which I realized after I gave it to her that I didn't capture it with a photo...a good thing to keep on hand when the next baby gift comes along right? Anyway, here are a couple of the things that were included in the basket of fun.

This card is actually one of the POTM(project of the month) on the LAD site this month. If you haven't been over there lately, Lizzie and Anne have been busy bettering their site, and it's wonderful! So, take a little gander over and check out all the fun! One of my favorite new features is that you can browse the sketch book by stamp set...way cool! So, drop in and have some fun looking around!

Ok, back to my card. I'm in love with the new "In Colors" from Stampin' Up!!!! I think pink pirouette is perhaps the best light pink I've used...seriously, it's a beatuiful soft color! So, I started with a pink pirouette card, used a layer of chocolate chip(surprise!!) and then a layer of one of my favorite pieces from the noteworthy line by making memories (LAD carries this line in their online store too! just fyi!). I cut a slit in the fold of the card and ran my chocolate chip ribbon through the slit and tied a nice knot. The giraffe from the Born to be Wild stamp set was stamped in brown ink on vanilla paper and then colored in using the baja breeze classic pad and a blender pen. I colored in his spots and then filled the rest of him in with diamond stickles glitter. **and then I set the griaffe out of the way and let it dry!!** My marvy uchida scallop square punch went to work on a punch of the Baja Breeze paper for a layer under the giraffe. I used the Baby stamp from the Simply Sentiments set, and chocoalte chip classic ink on another piece of Baja Breeze cardstock that has been jazzed up by a pair of ladybug scallop scissors from EK success. The polka dot strip was attached and then the griaffe was attached to the card with dimensionals.

This is a little baby memory journal that I slipped in the basket too. I used the same line of paper, same colors, stamps etc., but I also used the oliva alphabet to spell Laila's name. I used teriffically tacky tape to attach the paper to the compostion book. I've also found the my ATG does a great job on composition books. I also sanded the edges of the book with a sanding block.

I am always happy to need to get a chance to go and make someone a gift...I think it's really fun to make and deliver them and not even need a real reason! Don't you!? Ok, I hope you are all having a wonderful day! It's been a bit rainy today, a tiny bit cool...I think we'll have primary soup for dinner tonight...some hot biscuits...I love the cool weather of FALL!! We went on a great day trip Saturday, Bamberg (Germany) is just a couple of hours away, and is known as the "Prague of Germany"...it was SO beautiful! We had a wonderful time, I found a fantastic pottery store...bought a few great pieces to add to my collection, enjoyed a great raspberry icecream...walked and walked and walked...it was wonderful! Would you be interested in seeing some of my photos from my almost weekly trips? I'd be happy to share....

Thanks for stoping by friends!! Make today a great one!! Oh, tomorrow is the day...Stampin' Up! is now selling the Sizzix Big Shot! I'm trying to be patient in getting mine to arrive in Germany....I'm SO exited about it!! Stay tuned for more info!

Loved the projects today. The pink and blue together are soft and the layouts a delight! Hugs . . . . M
