Out of this World!

I really like sending little thank you gifts to my kids teachers at school. I think it is so fun to have someone to give little "somethings" to...so we try to send a little something once a month, to let the teachers know we appreciate them...it's fun! Anyway, I was working with the LAD Out of This World stamp set, and I had so much fun! The images are great, and my son had a lot of fun playing right along side me! It's fun to have a hobby that you can have your kids do right along side you, isn't it!? My 3 year old daughter likes to "work" with me and knows how to do everything...wash the stamps, use adhesive, she loves cutting and punching...and she loves to give her creations to her friends and I love that she thinks of other people and has the perfect idea in mind to create for them! Wow, that was totally a random little side note...but I think it is really fun!

Ok, moving on...I was thinking of what kind of packaging for the little treats I had to share..and I remembered a great box that Lauren Meader created! It's called a Boxed-Bag-Holder. It's a very simple box to create, and the possibilities are endless! I've made a few to hold little gifts, I've used patterned cardstock, but for these boxes I just used solid cardstock that we stamped with coordinating images! How fun!!

In real life, the rings on Saturn are glittery-and sparkle really well! Glitter pens are the way to go! We paper pieced the cute astronauts clothes (just stamp the image on your ww paper, then stamp it again on your patterned paper, cut and paste!) Items used for this set, ww, regal rose, bashful blue, and wild wasabi cs(su), polka dot paper(mm), Out of this world(LAD), chocolate chip, regal rose and wild wasabi classic ink(su), reagal rose ribbon, wasabi ribbon(su), page pebbels(mm), key tag punch and oval punches(su).

This next set was really fun to make too! The photo doesn't pick up on the saffron ink on saffron ink, but the box is stamped with saturn and the spaceship all over. I think my son's favorite part of this one was the fire coming out of the jet! We used the "rock 'n roll" technique for the fire effect. So, you stamp you image in the lighter color (saffron here) then just roll the edges of the stamp in the darker color (pumpkin pie here) and then stamp! It is a fun technique and wow, it really looks like there is fire coming out of the spaceship! For this set we used saffron, pumpkin pie, garden green, bashful blue, and ww cs(su), patterned paper(DCWV glitter stack), Out of this world stamps(LAD), so saffron, pumpkin pie, garden green, bashful blue and black classic ink(su), brads(su), dew drops(robins nest), 3/4" circle and ticket corner punch(su), ribbon (misc.)

And for this final set, the little alien came to play! I love this little green friend! I even did a little paper piecing on him! We stamped a large star image from the Classic Background set(SU), in pumpkin pie ink, onto the pumpkin pie cardstock for the box background. The little alien is stamped in black ink and colored with green galore ink for the box, on the card, he is stamped on turquoise cardstock and the has the striped paper for a body! The card has the stars from the Out of This World set stamped on the turquoise paper. I love the look of the little alien standing on the planet...so cute! It's hard to see in the photo, but on the large turquoise star on the box, it says "you're a star!"...thus all the stars everywhere! The products used on this set, pumpkin pie, tempting turquoise, ww, and green galore cs(su), pumpkin pie, turquoise, and basic black classic ink (su), retired striped paper(su), star punches (su), Out of this world stamps (LAD), 1 1/4" square, 1 3/8" suqare, stars , key tag and window word punches(su), pumpkin pie striped grosgrain(su), turquoise ribbon(misc.), and an acrylic page pebble(mm).
